Shop for Beach Wears?
As Bali is known for surfer's paradise, retail shops for surfer's brands ie Quiksilver, Rip Curl, Billabong, etc can be found everywhere be it originals, imitations and even rejected ones.
The Factory Outlet at Bypass Ngurah Rai is one popular shop for tourists to purchase either original or rejected brands.

Family with Kids?
Besides the Kuta beach, parents of little kids may go to Waterbom park at Jln Kartika Plaza near Centro. This water park is also for all ages. With thrill slide rides for the adults and a kiddy park for kids, it sure brings fun and excitement to all.
check this website : www.waterbom-bali.com
Hard Rock Hotel is another alternative water park that parents can go with kids.

Massage?
There are aplenty of massage spas and parlours around Kuta. Your hotel stay may also have one. If you are into those inexpensive ones, do make an appointment at Cozy Spa at Jln Matahari Terbit/Sunset Road. Their massage are equally good to those 5 star spas.

Singaraja, North Bali

Amazingly, it has black sandy beach called Lovina Beach. Singaraja used to be Bali's capital during the Dutch occupancy. Now,it is a small quiet town north of Bali about 3-4hrs drive from Kuta. Ideally, for a peaceful get-away.

There are lotsa hotels around too. Do plan your itinery for at least three days in Lovina.

Things you can go/do in Singaraja
- dolphins 'hunting', water activities and sunrise
- holy hot spring
- Yeh Sanih natural swimming pool
- Brahmavihara Arama Buddhist Temple
- Gitgit waterfall

Dolphins Hunting
Singaraja is home for dolphins. Make one day advanced arrangements with a boatman. This dolphin hunting starts as early as 530am. It's very exciting to 'hunt' these dolphins in the oceans on a small boat.

If you are lucky, while doing snorkeling, these dolphins will come play with you in the waters. It's an experience that can't be forgotten!

Holy Hot Spring
Do take a trip around the small town to this place. 'Cleanse' your body into the hot spring. You can try it out at the public or private area (admission charges apply).

Yeh Sanih Natural Swimming Pool
About 16km away from Lovina, a Must-Go place to visit and recreation. Believe it or not though it is seperated by a small dam by the sea, the swimming pool isn't a salt water pool!

Brahmavihara Arama Buddhist Temple
For those buddhist faiths, this is the biggest buddhist temple in Bali. Just 11km away drive from Lovina. You can make this visit before heading to the holy hot spring.

Gitgit Waterfall
A tourist destination near Lovina. Be enchanted with the beautiful surroundings of the waterfall surrounded by the tropical forests. Restaurants, arts and souveneirs shops are available near the waterfall.

Hotels in Lovina
There wasn't any 5-star hotels in Singaraja or Lovina. But the newly renovated Puri Saron Baruna Beach Cottages are a great place to stay. Friendly hotel staffs and services at your doorstep. And you will definately like the shower room! It's partially open on the roof where you can gaze at the sky whether in the day or night.

Makan Places

Your normal fast-food restaurants are available in and around Kuta. A&W can only be found at Centro and Carrefour.

For those who wants to try local foods, here are my BEST recommendations,

Malioboro
Location : Tuban
A MUST-try on these 'ayam tulang lunak' where you can simply eat the bones of the compressed-cooked chicken. Order with kangkung, tempe and a glass of Cincau. The sambal is something you are not going to miss!

Plengkung
Location : Tuban
Wide range of local to western food. Dishes to recommend are the fried chicken that goes with kangkung and tempe. You may try their Nasi Goreng, fried fish 'gurami', etc.

Gilimanuk
Location : Tuban
For spicy food lovers, do try this Balinese Ayam Betutu (Steamed Chicken with spices). It sure kicks in you!

Bakso Surabaya
Location : Teuku Umar
Indonesian 'signature' food. If you never tried bakso before, do drop by at this eatery. All kind of cooked bakso are available. From the fried to steamed bakso.

Warung Sate Bu Haji
Location : Pantai Segara, Sanur
A MUST-try for this satay eatery! But there is only mutton satay available. Do try with a bowl of mutton soup and a fresh watermelon juice.

Warung Krisna
Location : Teuku Umar
Nasi Campur Ayam is the most favourite local dish by the Balinese. This eatery is popular for its famous Babi Guling or 'suckling pig' by the locals and tourist.
